Premier League Transfers Round-Up: The Biggest Deals So Far (June 23, 2023)

Hey fellas! It’s been a good past two weeks since we last reported our first transfer round-up. The market has been active with the Saudi buyings and free transfers. We’d like to break it down into three sections and recap what’s happened in the last few days.

A. Saudi Money & Some Big Deals

  • Chelsea could receive up to £40-60 millions from the sale of Koulibaly, H. Ziyech and E. Mendy to the Saudi clubs. They could use this to fund their pursuit of Moises Caicedo. They’s also finalized the incomings of C. Nkunku from RB Leipzig and N. Jackson from Villareal.
  • Liverpool have finalized Mac Allister deal and are reportedly working on new midfield and forward targets in K. Thuram, Manu Kone and F. Chiesa.
  • Arsenal have signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea for reported £65 millions. They are actively working on solution for Jurrien Timber and the deal for Declan Rice.
  • Wolves have sold R. Neves for £55 millions to Al Hilal. This sparks concerns among journalists as a Premier League player at the prime of his years chose to join a Saudi club.
  • Newcastle also reached agreement with Sandro Tonali for a reported £70m package.

B. Under-the-radar Deals

  • Brentford signed Mark Flekken to replace David Raya, who is still yet to find his exit solution due to the club’s £40m asking price.
  • Tottenham finally reached solutions with Juventus for the transfer of Dejan Kulusevski. The Swedish joined the club permanently. The club is reportedly looking to add E. Tapsoba as their new defense signing.
  • The treble winner Manchester City completed the signing of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea for £25m. The league winner has released I. Gundogan and this could be their replacement. They are said to be in pursuit for Declan Rice and J. Gvardiol.
  • Meanwhile, Tottenham has sealed £16.4m deal for Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. They decided to stop their pursuit of David Raya due to Brentford’s pricing.

Table: Top 5 Transfer Rumour

  • Chelsea needs a holding and ball winning midfielder and their eyes are set on Moises Caicedo. Brighton are not willing to let the player leave without putting up a strong fight by demanding north of £100m in fees. It’s yet to see how the situation will unfold. Will Chelsea give in to Brighton’s valuation or will they turn to an alternative target?
  • The competition for Declan Rice is wide and open. Arsenal and Manchester City have both made their initial bids with Manchester United still in the race. This deal could impact the PL table on massively. Will Rice join the guaranteed trophy winner in Manchester City (or) stay in London by choosing Arsenal (or) buddy up with his friends in Mason Mount and Luke Shaw by choosing United?
  • The deal for Mason Mount is clearly close for completion as Manchester United and Chelsea are making improvements in finding the middle ground. The fee could be a reported £60-65m package. Will Mount be able to join United’s pre-season on July 1st?
  • Arsenal are reported to be working on a deal to bring in J. Timber at £30m. The Netherlands international has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the club.
  • The pursuit of a ball-playing first team goalkeeper is a must for Manchester United this season. There are numerous options; A. Onana, Diogo Costa, David Raya, etc. But after the Champions League final performance, it’s not hard to understand why Erik Ten Hag will be keen to reunite with his former Ajax star A. Onana. Will he be a success at United and how much will it take for United to bring him in?
