EPL Done Deals – A Complete List (As of 21 July 2023)

Hello EPL fans! Today, we’d like to update on what are the EPL done deals so far as of third week of July 2023.

EPL Transfers 2023 (So Far)

It has been an active and very interesting transfer window for English Premier League so far. This year, the dynamics of the market has changed significantly due to the competition and demands for top deals from the Saudi Pro League. We’ve seen the players at the top of his game like Ruben Neves moved to Saudi, not to mention the current Liverpool captain Jorden Henderson on the verge of a move in the same direction.

The appeal for the English Premier League, however, remains the highest among European football and we are expecting to see more high profile EPL done deals before the window closes. Let’s take a look at EPL done deals so far as of July 21.

EPL Done Deals – Analysis of the Big Six

Arsenal has had a fantastic window so far with all major targets acquired.

  • Arsenal has completed all of their major targets in Declan Rice (£105m), Kai Havertz (£65m), Jurrien Timber (£38m).

Manchester City are relatively quiet in this market but could close the window with strong buys.

  • Man City has only completed one signing in Mateo Kovacic (£30m). They are still working on the big deal for Josko Gvardiol and yet to finalize on the fees.

Manchester United are on track to acquire all their major targets in a timely manner.

  • Manchester United are also close to finalize signing of their major transfer targets. They have acquired Mason Mount (£55m) and Andre Onana (£50m). As of 21 July, they have also submitted an initial bid around £50m for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Liverpool are still lagging behind and need to ramp up their efforts to fill in key positions.

  • Liverpool have already filled two of their midfield positions in Alexis Mac Allister (£35m) and Dominik Szoboszlai (£65m). They still need to acquire a few more for their midfield and defense if they are to compete for titles since Jorden Henderson and Fabinho are both leaving for Saudi clubs.

Chelsea are in a dangerous position if they don’t fill in some key positions on time.

  • Chelsea has finalized the deals for Christopher Nkunku (£55m), Nicolas Jackson (£32m) and Angelo Santos (Undisclosed).
  • There have been so much outgoings from Chelsea that it’s hard not to imagine whether this season is going to be chaotic like last season. They have yet to fill in key roles across the pitch with experienced players. Their pursuit for Moises Caicedo is still a work in progress due to firm demand from Brighton. Chelsea will need to speed up their acquisition of key targets to not risk another chaotic season ahead.

Tottenham has had an active window but Harry Kane situation is vital for the club’s future.

  • Tottenham has acquired Vicario (£17m), Manor Solomon (Free) and James Maddison (£40m). They have also finalized their loan-to-buy signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro.
  • The big unknown regarding Tottenham lies in the situation around their main man, Harry Kane. It’s unclear whether he will stay at Tottenham this season or beyond with Bayern Munich pursuing the striker. If he gets sold this summer, Tottenham will need to invest in a top striker to fill in the Kane-size hole.

EPL Done Deals – The Rest of EPL

Aston Villa emerged as the dark horse after their strong buys.

  • Newcastle are not done yet with their business after Sandro Tonali (£70m). They are currently focusing on a deal for Harvey Barnes for around £38m, to replace the potential outgoing of Saint-Maximin to Saudi. It’s unlikely that their spending will stop there and we’ll need to wait and see how they react in the market.

Tottenham has had an active window but Harry Kane situation is vital for the club’s future.

  • Brighton has made interesting signings including Joao Pedro (£30m) and Bert Verbruggen (£17m). They’ve also snapped up James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud for free. They could pursue further high-profile deals once the outgoing of Moises Caicedo is finalized.

Brentford are the most active among the remaining clubs. Others are still working on their first initial deals.
